Terms of sale

These terms apply when you order number plates from Numberplater Ltd (Company No. 17202692, RNPS No. 75456). By placing an order you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Our products

We make road-legal UK number plates to BS AU 145e. Each plate is manufactured to order for the specific registration you provide, with DVLA-legal character spacing applied before pressing.

Ordering & verification

  • Before we manufacture, you must upload valid proof of entitlement and proof of identity — this is a legal requirement for a registered supplier.
  • By ordering you confirm you’re entitled to display the registration, or have the registered keeper’s permission.
  • Your payment is authorised, not charged, until your documents are verified. We only take payment once verification passes.
  • If we can’t verify your entitlement or identity, we won’t manufacture the plate and the authorisation is released.

Pricing

The price you see for each product is the price you pay — shown in full before you pay, with any delivery cost shown up front and no compulsory fees added at checkout. Numberplater Ltd is not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.

Your right to cancel

For most goods bought online you have 14 days to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, starting the day after you receive them.

Because every plate is manufactured to your exact registration and can’t be re-sold to anyone else, it is exempt from that 14-day change-of-mind right under regulation 28(1)(b) once we begin production. So you don’t have an automatic right to cancel simply because you’ve changed your mind after we’ve started making it.

To keep this fair: before we start making your plate you can still cancel or change your order — just contact us as soon as possible and, if we haven’t begun production, we’ll cancel and refund you in full.

This exemption applies only to the change-of-mind right. It does not affect your legal rights if your plate arrives faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise not as agreed — see your statutory rights below.

Full cancellation, returns and warranty detail is on our Delivery, returns & warranty page, which forms part of these terms.

Delivery, returns & warranty

Dispatch timing, delivery scope, our made-to-order returns policy and the 12-month manufacturing warranty are set out in full on our Delivery, returns & warranty page. See also the fitting guide for what’s included and safe fitting.

Our liability to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (including that goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described); or
  • any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

Subject to the above, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. We supply our products for domestic and private use; if you use a product for any commercial or business purpose we have no liability for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them or from your order are governed by the law of England & Wales, and are subject to the courts of England & Wales — except that, if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your own home courts, and nothing here removes any mandatory legal protection you have where you live.
